On Saturday 15th August 2026, we proudly present the William Hill Great St Wilfrid, a day packed with top-class racing, excitement, and atmosphere at its very best.

Last year’s raceday featured an incredible £215,000 in prize money, including a £100,000 pot for the feature race itself — the prestigious 6-furlong William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap. Now celebrating 30 years of sponsorship by William Hill, this iconic sprint continues to draw some of the finest horses, trainers, and jockeys from across the country.

In 2025, victory went to Intervention, superbly ridden by William Pyle, adding another memorable chapter to the race’s illustrious history. The 2024 renewal was claimed by Dare To Hope, trained by Richard Fahey, joining a glittering roll of honour that includes Intrinsic Bond (2022), Justanotherbottle (2021), Staxton (2020), Dakota Gold (2019), Gunmetal (2018), Mattmu (2017), Nameitwhatyoulike (2016), Out Do (2015), Don’t Touch (2014), Baccarat (2013), Pepper Lane (2012 & 2011), and the much-loved Pipalong (1999).

The 2025 William Hill Great St Wilfrid Raceday also saw a fantastic collaboration with the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), where the racecourse community came together to raise over £9,000 in support of this incredible cause.

We’re also delighted to share that the raceday has been named a finalist in the prestigious RCA Showcase Awards, recognising the exceptional effort and experience that make this event such a highlight of the racing calendar.
