Daniel Tudhope stole the show on a fine afternoon at Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse, extending his lead at the top of the Jockeys Championship with a treble!
Paul Mulrennan also rode a double, taking the opening juvenile maiden on board Orlaith and steering Queens Gift to victory in the 5f Handicap, following up on their success at Doncaster earlier this month.
Tudhope’s first winner came courtesy of the David O’Meara-trained Infinite Grace in the 5f Nursery. Her dam, Pepper Lane, won the William Hill Great St Wilfrid in 2011 and 2012 for the same trainer/jockey combination so it might not be the last we see of this filly at Ripon!
Keith Dalgleish’s progressive triple bumper winner, Alright Sunshine, gained his second win on flat giving title-chasing Tudhope a second winner on the day and he didn’t have to wait long to notch a third as Country justified long odds-on favouritism, taking William Haggas’ strike rate at Ripon to an incredible 43% in the last five years.
Bossipop, an unlucky loser at Chester on Friday evening, recorded his third win at the track in the Armstrong Memorial Handicap for Cam Hardie and Tim Easterby.
Stormin Norman, who landed a bumper back in April but had shown little on his three previous flat runs, came good on his handicap debut in the finale under Franny Norton.
