The 12th annual Go Racing in Yorkshire Summer Festival kicked off at Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse on Saturday and the star of the show on the track was again Daniel Tudhope, who rode his second treble of the week at Ripon having also ridden three winners on Monday evening.
The opening Dobsons Gaskets Selling Stakes went the way of the Tudhope ridden Isobar Wind, for David Evans, who sprinted clear of his rivals to win by 6-lengths. Later on the card Tudhope further extended his lead at the top of the Jockeys Championship, winning on board the James Tate-trained Battle Of Wills and taking the last with Montalvan for Roger Fell, who himself notched a double on the day as Cockalorum had earlier taken the Sky Bet Go Racing in Yorkshire Summer Festival Handicap.
Cloudea showed the benefit of her debut experience to win the 5f maiden in impressive fashion for Richard Fahey and Tony Hamilton and she could well develop into a very useful performer. The feature race, the Ripon Bell-Ringer Handicap, produced a thrilling finish in which Kevin Ryan’s Everything For You showed guts in abundance to prevail under a power packed ride from Kevin Stott. Stott was on the mark again in the Ramsdens Currency Best Rates Guaranteed Handicap, again prevailing by a narrow margin on the John Davies-trained Alfred Richardson.
