Arrival and Parking

Gates open approximately two hours before the first race; times vary between meetings so ensure you have checked the website for the precise time. Unfortunately times are always subject to slight change, any alterations are updated on the website immediately.

Traffic does build up around the entrance in the lead up to the first race so it is advisable to arrive in plenty of time. There is plenty to do at the racecourse before the racing begins; meet with friends, familiarise yourself with the surroundings, listen to the music on the band stand and enjoy some food and drink.

Driving

Ripon is most easily accessed by the A1 (M). Below are directions from the North and South, more directions including travelling by public transport can be found here

Approaching from the South

Leave the A1 at the turning to Ripon (junction 48), which is just after the Harrogate exit, and follow the brown signs for Ripon Cathedral. Once over a fairly narrow bridge you will be approaching the Racecourse on your left, the first entrance is the Cars on Course and the second entrance is the main free car park with access to the Club or Paddock Enclosure and also the Course if you are planning on walking into the centre at a price per person.

Approaching from the North

Leave the A1 where it is joined by the A61 (junction 50) which becomes the Ripon bypass. Turn left at the third roundabout and the racecourse is just a few hundred yards on the right. The first entrance on your right will be the main free car park with access to the Club or Paddock Enclosure and also the Course if you are planning on walking into the centre at a price per person, if you are wanting the Car on Course Enclosure this is the first entrance on the right after the main gates which allows you to drive into the centre of the racecourse.

Entrances

There are two entrances into the racecourse:

Main FREE Car Park

This gives you access to the Club or Paddock Enclosure and also the Course if you are planning on walking into the centre at a price per person.

Cars on Course

This allows you to drive into the centre of the racecourse.

Shuttle Service

Our FREE shuttle bus service in partnership with Atkinsons runs for 60 minutes before the first race. The return shuttle runs begins 30 minutes before the last race for approximately 1 hour.

The bus collects racegoers from the coach park opposite Ripon Bus Station and drops off at the course. Multiple runs are made throughout the periods of service, with additional buses in place for feature racedays.
