Under 18’s are admitted free of charge to ALL fixtures at Ripon Racecourse when accompanied by an adult.
Family Fun Days
We have three Family Days in 2024, with a wide range of activities and fun for all ages from Punch ‘n’ Judy and fancy dress to a barrel train, , bouncy castles, arts and crafts, circus, face painting and much more all FREE for kids.

Baby Changing & Feeding
Baby changing facilities are located in each enclosure, including within the Members areas and Rowels Boxes.
The baby changing area in the Paddock Ladies’ toilets includes a feeding area with comfy chair, lockable door and sink.
High chairs are available in the Paddock, Club and Course enclosures, please ask a member of staff should you require one.
Dress Code
Dress code for children: The Club dress code does not apply to racegoers under 16, although many like to take the opportunity to wear their party outfits or even fancy dress on a family day!
Food & Drink
We have a range of food and drink outlets at Ripon Races, that can cater for children. Amongst the many options we have firm family favourites fish and chips, ice cream and a sweet shop in the Paddock Enclosure!
Picnics are allowed in the Course Enclosure and Paddock Enclosure areas so that families can relax on the grass and enjoy their own al fresco lunch while they soak up the atmosphere of a family day at the races. Picnics are not allowed in the Club enclosure.
The Racecourse offers many food and drink options for children. Sandwiches, toasties, cakes and muffins are available, as well as a range of hot meals. There is an old fashioned Sweet Shop within the Paddock Enclosure and an ice cream kiosk too! All of our bars and catering outlets serve water, as well as soft drinks.
We welcome children within the Club Restaurant and Dine & View, and smaller portions and/or a Children’s Menu are available.
Getting Around
Entrance: Children and families are welcome in all Enclosures. When entering the Paddock Enclosure through the turnstiles, children and families with buggies or prams will be directed to the accessible entrance for ease of entry.
Accessibility: The ground is mostly flat around the course, so buggies can be used throughout, though it is worth noting that much of the ground underfoot is grass. The Paddock baby changing area in the Ladies’ toilets is on the ground floor and has space for a buggy, so you can wheel it right in.
Play facilities: There is a climbing frame in the Paddock Enclosure and a further climbing frame, swings and a slide in the Course Enclosure, and this is generally where our children’s activities are on family days.
Ripon and the surrounding area has many reasons to keep visitors interested and entertained. As well as those in the centre, such as the Cathedral and museums, Ripon has an abundance of top class visitor attractions within a 10-mile radius to complement any visit to the City itself. These include the World Heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, Newby Hall (a stately home), the 14th century Ripley Castle, a modern theme park at Lightwater Valley and the village of Masham with its two breweries.
Ideally located to explore the Yorkshire Dales or even the North York Moors, there’s always plenty to do in and around the city for the young or not so young!
Ripon is a great place to stay or visit whatever the season. Whatever the purpose of your visit; a weekend break, a daytrip with friends, or a family holiday, we hope you’ll spend some time “amid Ripon’s ancient charms” and discover all that this vibrant City has to offer.
